Texas Cup format and rules
All games except for the finals will be 45 over matches. The finals shall be a 50 over a side game.
The top seeded team shall play the 4th seed and the 2nd sed shall play the 3rd seed in the first round on saturday.
The two winners shall play in the finals and the two losing teams shall play a 3/4th place game on sunday.
NTCA being the host team shall provide balls, grounds, umpires and scorers for the tournament.
Unless explicitly stated, all MCC cricket laws(2000 code), will be followed.
Umpires shall verify and sign each score sheet at the end of each inning.
There will be absolutely no cell phones or cigarettes by umpires or players, allowed within the boundary line.
Boundaries at each ground should if possible measure not less than 70 yards and certainly not greater than 80 yards, measured from the center of the pitch being utilized for that particular game.
Drink intervals shall last no longer than 5 minutes and shall normally be taken after every 75 minutes of play in an innings. The lunch break between innings shall not exceed 30 minutes.
No persons may bowl underarm
Drink intervals shall last no longer than 5 minutes and shall normally be taken at the end of the 17th over & the 34th over, in each innings.
Umpires are instructed to apply a very strict, but consistent interpretation of the wide ball in order to prevent any negative bowling wide of the wicket.
Each side will bat for 45 (50) overs unless their innings is completed by declaration or otherwise. Matches should start at 9.00 a.m. but in the event that there are fewer than 7 players of a team present at 9.15 a.m. the umpires must award the game to the other team. For delayed starts beyond 9:15 AM, the umpires must deduct an over for every 4 minutes or part thereof, lost from the playing time. The overs to be deducted must be rounded down, during the first innings, to ensure that both sides face an equal number of overs. In the event of the overs being reduced before the start, no bowler may bowl more than one fifth of the overs to be bowled. Thereafter, the bowler's quota remains the same, irrespective of other overs, which may be deducted. Once a match has started, if the weather intervenes, the umpires will deduct overs at the rate of 1 over per 4 minutes or part thereof for all time lost. A minimum of 20 (25) overs must be bowled in eac h innings (unless a side is all out prior to that stage being reached) for a result to be reached.
No bowler may bowl more than 9 (10) overs. In the event, of a bowler breaking down in mid-over, another bowler must complete the over. Part of an over shall count as a full over so far as each bowler's limitation is concerned.
The side that scores the most
runs shall be the winner.
1st tie-breaker: If the scores are level, the side that has lost the least
wickets will be the winner.
2nd tie-breaker: If still equal and both sides are all out, the side with the
higher overall scoring rate (runs per overs faced) shall be the winner.
3rd tie-breaker: If still equal the match shall be declared a tie.
If a game(other than the finals) is declared a tie or is abandoned, then a coin toss would determine which team would proceed to the next round. However if the finals is a tie or is abndoned, the trophy shall be shared by both teams and both finalists would be declared joint winners.
If rain or bad light curtails play, the side that has scored the fastest in runs per completed over; throughout the innings (provided at least 20 (25) overs have been bowled in the 2nd innings) shall be the winner. In the event of the team batting first being all out before the completion of their specified overs, their run rate will be determined over the number of overs they should have faced had they not been all out. The team batting second's average will be determined over the actual number of overs and part thereof, that they faced before the cancellation of play for the day.
